OK, there’s just one show remaining on the high-school-musical calendar, the final weekend of Stepinac’s “Mary Poppins,” so the attention shifts to a little event on June 2: The Metropolitan High School Theater Awards.
There is news on the Metro Awards front:
+ Producer Danielle Rudess and I will webcast nominations for the 2014 Metro Awards — honoring the best in high-school-musicals from across Rockland, Westchester and Bergen counties — at 7 p.m., May 12. That’s next Monday, so best to start planning your nominations-watching party ASAP.
+ We’ll be back at the Metros for a pre-show webcast and the entire awards ceremony webcast on June 2.
+ Broadway’s John Treacy Egan, whose work last year was a perfect fit for the celebratory mood in that room, will be back for another turn as host.
+ We’ll be live-blogging (on this blog, theater.lohudblogs.com) and tweeting (#lohudmetros) from the show, too.
+ To whet your appetite for the loudest, proudest night on the high-school-musical calendar, take a look back at last year’s webcasts: The red-carpet pre-show and the awarding of outstanding leading actress (Port Chester’s Rosie Veltri), outstanding leading actor (Stepinac’s Chris Guzman) and outstanding overall production (Harrison’s “Crazy for You.”)
