Byram Hills has a theatrical tradition, so it seems fitting that the Armonk school should be staging “Fiddler on the Roof” this year.
Director John Lopez is a known commodity to theater audiences across the Lower Hudson Valley, having recently played King Arthur in Yorktown Stage’s “Spamalot” and Jean Valjean in White Plains PAC’s “Les Miserables.”
But this is his first year directing the big Byram Hills musical, having stepped into the considerable shoes of Adam Shatraw.
His “Fiddler” cast doesn’t disappoint. At a recent rehearsal, they had a firm grasp of their characters, a village of Russian Jews in 1905 who face a change of their way of life.
Will Benish plays Tevye the Dairyman, trying to raise five daughters and deal with an uncooperative cow.
Here’s the Running Lines video I shot at Byram Hills. Enjoy.
