A lot of excitement for high-school-musical kids across the Lower Hudson Valley this morning as the nominations for the 2013 Metropolitan High School Theater Awards are just a few hours away.
At 4 p.m., producer Danielle Rudess and I will sit down in the rehearsal studio at Helen Hayes Youth Theater to read the names of nominees in 27 categories.
The Metros will be handed out on June 3 at the newly reopened Paramount Hudson Valley in Peekskill, which had been shuttered since October but is now under new management. The 1,025-seat restored movie house is routinely shaken to its rafters by the loudest, proudest moment on the high-school-musical calendar across the Lower Hudson Valley.
This year’s emcee is Larchmont’s John Treacy Egan, who will be working on his day off from “Nice Work If You Can Get It,” the Gershwin musical that stars Matthew Broderick.
Here are the categories – artistic and production – that we’ll announce. Be sure to bookmark www.lohud.com and come back at 4 p.m. for the announcement. If you miss it, I’ll have a list of nominees here shortly after the webcast. Also, you’ll be able to watch the nominations announcement on-demand later.
