Stopped by rehearsal for “Fiddler on the Roof” at Pelham Memorial High School yesterday and found director Tom Beck his usual hilarious self, aided and abetted by Neil Schliefer and accompanist George Croom, who pushed the kids to sound even better they did (which was pretty good). As they ran “Sabbath Prayer,” one of the most touching moments of the musical, he reminded them that it was, after all, a prayer and needn’t be shouted. The change in dynamics was, well, dynamic, giving the song an urgency that wasn’t there when the kids were belting it out. Remarkable little moment, that.
