It didn’t look good for a while there, but Carly’s Angels came through.

Fans of Mamaroneck’s Carly Rose Sonenclar — known as Carly’s Angels — were kept in suspense until the final moments of tonight’s results show on “The X Factor.”

more->But in the end, they voted in numbers strong enough to put the 13-year-old phenom into next Wednesday’s finale, where she’ll face 37-year-old country singer Tate Stevens, and the girl group Fifth Harmony. Sent home was the boy band Emblem3, whose fate was sealed when Sonenclar’s name was announced as a finalist.

Tonight’s show revealed the results of last night’s nationwide vote, conducted by smartphone app, phone, text and online. The winner, who receives a $5 million recording contract, will be announced Dec. 20.

Producers certainly made it interesting, first announcing that long-shot Fifth Harmony would advance to the final, shocking the crowd. Then Stevens got in, pitting Sonenclar against the popular boy band Emblem3.

When the two acts stood on the stage waiting to hear who was going to the finale, Sonenclar stood beside mentor Britney Spears, her eyes shut. When she was chosen, Sonenclar said: “I don’t know what to say. Thanks to everyone for voting. Emblem3, you’re going to go so far and I can’t wait to buy your albums.”

It was a real nail-biter, following a semi-final night when observers thought Emblem3 really stepped up and Sonenclar might have given them an opening.

Sonenclar sang Elton John’s “Your Song” and John Lennon’s “Imagine.” The latter began with Sonenclar accompanying herself on the piano, then standing and singing, then returning to the piano.

While judges LA. Reid, Demi Lovato and Spears said they liked the pint-sized singer’s soul-tinged take on “Imagine,” Cowell delivered the first real negative critique she has received in the competition, saying “it was like five things went on throughout that song.”

Backstage, Sonenclar said the decision was with “the people at home.”

The people at home made it interesting.
