As she prepares for tomorrow night’s big show—with two performances that could send her to “The X Factor” finale—Carly called to chat for a minute. She’s an artist who this week added her 400,000th Twitter follower, but she is still 13, and finds it hard to fathom the circle she finds herself in.
Last week, “American Idol”-winner Jordin Sparks Tweeted “Three words: Carly. Rose. Sonenclar.”
“That was amazing,” Carly says. “She’s one of the best vocalists ever, I think.”
She has heard from other bold-faced names, too: Emma Roberts, Victoria Justice, Kim Kardashian and will.i.am, who was on hand in Malibu and helped Spears make the call to send Carly to the final 16.
After seeing Carly perform Karmin’s “Brokenhearted,” the Black Eyed Peas frontman declared: “She’s like a little caterpillar. And then you think she’s going to turn into a butterfly? Dragon. Scorching the town.”
Still, Carly is 13 and admits to being tongue-tied when superstar Alicia Keys met with the contestants backstage after rehearsing her “This Girl Is On Fire” performance.
“She was going down the line, asking our names. I was in shock,” she says. “I couldn’t even speak I was so star-struck.”
Now, she has that effect on people.
“That’s the crazy thing, when people are like that when they talk to me,” she says. “I don’t really understand it because I’m like that when I talk to other people.”
Don’t forget to cast your vote tomorrow, after the show (from 8 to 10 on Fox). You can cast as many votes as you like, via phone, text, mobile app or online. Here’s a link that shows exactly how to vote.
