Mamaroneck teen’s ‘Over the Rainbow’ puts her over the top
Last night’s emotional “X Factor” exit of New Jersey teen-ager Beatrice Miller—who sang through the tears in a performance that seemed a bit cruel, even by reality-tv standards—was followed by the unveiling of the vote totals for the remaining eight acts.
When it came down to the top two, the faces were familiar: country artist Tate Stevens and Westchester’s own dynamo Carly Rose Sonenclar. In every week the tally has been posted, Stevens has been atop the weekly leader board, a tally of most votes received.
But last night, they flip-flopped at the top, with Carly winning the most votes, for her performance of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” dedicated to her big brother, Russ.
Today is a day off at “The X Factor” and I was told that the Sonenclar clan— Carly, Russ, mom Terri and dad Bob—are making the most of it, celebrating Thanksgiving together far from their Mamaroneck home.
Then it’s time to look forward to Wednesday, when Carly faces the voters again.
