(Carly Rose Sonenclar performs live on THE X FACTOR last week. Ray Mickshaw/FOX. )
Congratulations! You are in the final 12, now. How does that feel?
Carly Rose Sonenclar: It feels amazing! I am so excited and humbled by the faith that the judges have put in me.
Have the live shows changed anything for you and the way you prepare?
CRS: Yes. It is much more intense now that we have staging and choreography and wardrobe. One thing that people may not realize is that we do not have the ability to make the final decision as to what we wear, what song we sing or what the staging/choreography is. We sometimes have input but it is ultimately decided by our mentor.
You are a kid who was on Broadway at age 7. You’re used to working a crowd and performing live. Do you think that gives you an advantage?
CRS: I definitely think it does since I know how to prepare myself and how to control my nerves. However, a lot of the contestants in the top 12 have previous experience so I am certainly not the only one.
Is there something you say to yourself before you go on, to give yourself confidence?
CRS: I just always think that everything happens for a reason, and that I am prepared and I know my stuff so I just have to relax and be confident.
Were you surprised by the people who were sent home?
CRS: Yes I was very surprised!
Diamond didn’t make it. How did she take it?
CRS: Diamond and I are great friends and she is such an upbeat person. She took it very well as did her mom who is also an amazing person!
This is a competition and the competition is getting hotter, with 12 of you now looking at the finish line. Will the three teens continue to work with Britney to prepare for the next live show?
CRS: Yes, actually we are here waiting for what we think is going to be our mentoring session with her right now!
Anything to say to the folks in Westchester who are watching you?
CRS: First of all I want to extend my thoughts and prayers again to all those people who still have no power and who have suffered as a result of the storm. I know it is going to make it more difficult for my friends and family at home to watch and vote. Our friends in Mamaroneck have organized a group event to watch the show….If you want to watch with a group or can get a group of kids together, CHAT 19 the restaurant in Larchmont will have all TVs tuned in to watch “The X Factor” this Wednesday and will offer a buffet and soft drinks for $20 per person from 8 – 10 p.m.
