Mamaroneck’s Carly Rose Sonenclar, who took “The X Factor” by storm when her audition aired last week, is getting more airtime. Her mom tells me Carly will be on NBC’s “Access Hollywood Live” this morning, between 11 and noon, and on Extra at 7 p.m., so set those DVR’s.
As for when she might appear again on Simon Cowell’s show, it might be a while. The show is still airing auditions from cities across the country. (Carly’s Providence audition was taped earlier and aired last week, after the San Francisco auditions aired on Wednesday.)
“The X Factor” airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. on Fox. This week, it’s Kansas City and Greensboro, S.C.
The first time I met Mamaroneck’s Carly Rose Sonenclar, she was a second-grader at F.E. Bellows Elementary School, appearing on Broadway in the revival of “Les Miserables.”
We met again, at a backer’s audition for the musical “Wallenberg,” backstage at the Paper Mill Playhouse when she was appearing in “Little House: The Musical,” and early last year, when she played Alice’s daughter in the Broadway musical “Wonderland.”
She still has the same twinkle, the same smile and the same great parents, Terri and Bob.
But now she has a wide world of fans, as she has burst onto the scene on “The X Factor.”
As of this morning, her “X Factor” audition video has been viewed more than 2,163,657 times.
Judge Demi Lovato declares herself “obsessed.”
Simon Cowell said he was sure someone else was singing behind the curtain and that the rendition of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” couldn’t possibly have been generated by the 13-year-old.
Judge Britney Spears (how weird does THAT sound) called Carly “Miss Thang” and was floored by her performance.
And LA Reid summed her star turn in three parts: “She had great tone, the right song, and dimples.”
