Rockland playwright Angelo Parra’s musical play, “The Devil’s Music: The Life and Blues of Bessie Smith,” started life at Penguin Rep and went on to win raves Off-Broadway, where it is still running and where its star, Miche Braden, was just up for a Drama Desk Award.
Then the playwright wrote “Playwriting for Dummies.”
Now comes word that Parra’s launching a seven-week playwriting course in Nyack this summer.
The course, “for beginners on up,” will be offered at 42 Main St., Nyack, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on seven Saturdays, starting July 14. Tuition is $210, with seniors over 60 and students under 26 paying the reduced fee of $189.
