There’s something brewing at White Plains Performing Arts Center, where Curt Stewart’s C&K Productions — in conjunction with something called the Multi-Cultural Arts Initiative — has announced auditions for aspiring actors, directors and playwrights.
The auditions — from 4 to 6 p.m. June 9 and 12 — will be held at WPPAC, the theater next to the multiplex on the top floor of the City Center mall in downtown White Plains. This program and audition process appears to be independent of the WPPAC Conservatory youth theater.
The announcement states that there will be interviews held during the auditions.
“Anyone auditioning for the acting workshop should bring a one-page monologue to read. Anyone auditioning for the directing workshop should bring a scene to interpret and read for clarity. Anyone auditioning for the Playwright workshop will be expected to bring a one-page narrative or scene that they have written and will read during the interview.”
The program — open to those 14 to 20 — will have 10 apprentices in each of the workshops.
“At the end of the workshop sessions, the playwright’s work will be featured on stage during various theatre festivals,” the statement reads. “The aspiring actors will perform the parts and the aspiring directors will direct the performances.”
WPPAC is at 11 City Place, White Plains. For details, call 914-885-7386.
