Lower Hudson Valley theatergoers have two productions of the musical “The Secret Garden” to choose from, starting this week.
White Plains PAC presents the musical setting of the classic children’s story — about an orphan girl who arrives at her uncle’s cold, forbidding estate and discoveries, well, a secret garden. With book and lyrics by Marsha Norman and music by Lucy Simon. 8 p.m., May 11, 12, 18, 19, 24 and 25; 2 p.m., May 13, 20. $30, $40. At 11 City Place, White Plains. www.wppac.com. 914-328-1600.
If you live in Rockland and you’re too tuckered to consider crossing the Tappan Zee — or if you’re in Westchester and don’t mind the bridge — Rockland has its own production of the same musical, in the cozy confines of Nyack’s Elmwood Playhouse. Through June 9. 8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays; 2 p.m., Sundays. $25, $23 for students and seniors. (No discounts on Saturdays.) www.elmwoodplayhouse.com. 845-353-1313.
