The calendar may say January, but in the world of Danielle Rudess, the founder and sole proprietor of the loudest, proudest moment on the high-school-musical calendar — the annual Metropolitan Awards held each June — it might as well be spring.
Rudess, the Metros producer, is looking for judges for this year’s theater awards program, which honors the best work among participating musicals from Westchester, Rockland and Bergen counties.
“We are looking for individuals who have a background in all aspects of theater: vocal, acting and dance performance, scenic design, lighting design or costume production or teachers who are devoted musical theater aficionados. Judges are paid $50 per show.”
All judges must be 21 or older, provide their own transportation and able to attend a minimum of 3 productions between Feb. 28 and May 5. Members of a participating high school’s production creative team and family members of cast members are not eligible to act as judges.
To apply, please fill out the application form at: http://www.hstheaterawards.com/judges.html.”
If you’ve got the credentials and the time, dip a toe into the wonderful world of high-school musicals. You won’t be sorry.
By the way, my annual big list of musicals is just days away.
