Check out Sunday’s editions of The Journal News, which will have a three-page spread about getting involved in community theaters across the Lower Hudson Valley.
I interviewed five community-theater stalwarts to find out how they got involved and what keeps them active.
Jennie Marino, of Tappan, the prop expert at Elmwood Theater in Nyack;
Marshall Moseley, of Shrub Oak, the technical guru at YCP TheaterWorks in Mohegan Lake;
Armonk’s Anne Nisenholtz, the costumer for the Armonk Players;
Hartsdale’s Robin Lloyd, the artist in residence at Yonkers’ Actors Conservatory Theater; and
Suffern’s Marty Andreas, president of Antrim Playhouse in Wesley Hills.
The stories will be here on the blog Sunday morning, too, a good read before Irene threatens to cut the power. I think they read better in the paper, though, with wonderful photos by Peter Carr, Frank Becerra Jr., Carucha L. Meuse and Joe Larese, and a great design by Robin Bolson.
Included in the package will be phone numbers and websites so you can find a group near you and roll up your sleeves.
