“Spring Awakening,” the Duncan Sheik musical that catapulted the careers of Jonathan Groff and Lea Michele (who went on to a little thing called “Glee”), was the first Broadway credit for White Plains native Jennifer Damiano.
In a couple of weeks, White Plains Performing Arts Center and Harrison Summer Theater will hold auditions for the Westchester premiere of “Spring Awakening.”
Auditions are July 18 and 19 at from 6 to 10:30 p.m. at WPPAC, 11 City Place, White Plains. Show dates are Sept. 16 to 18.
“Spring Awakening” will be directed by Jeremy Quinn, with musical direction by Stephen Ferri and choreography by Linda Duci. Rehearsals will be at night at WPPAC.
Because of the adult nature of the story — a rock ‘n’ roll musical about a group of teenagers dealing with the pleasures and pains of adolescence — roles are for those 16 and older. Cast size is 20 to 25 and auditioners are asked to prepare a song from the show, but not “Mama Who Bore Me.”
