The Port Chester Council for the Arts keeps things hopping all summer for theater lovers on both sides of the footlights and this summer is no exception.
They’ve just announced auditions for three musicals — “Company,” “Bye Bye, Birdie” and “Seussical Jr.” — and Shakespeare’s “As You Like It.”

“Company” — Audition Monday May 16, from 7-10 p.m. at Crawford Park Mansion, Rye Brook. Ages: 20 and up. Come prepared with 16-24 measures of a song in the style of the show. Bring sheet music if needed. The role of Bobby has already been cast. All other roles are open. Director: Christina Colangelo. Musical Director: Cindy Moore. “Bye Bye, Birdie” — Audition Wednesday May 25 from 5-10 p.m. at Crawford Park Mansion. Ages: 14-adult (teen-agers must be entering high school in fall 2011). This date/time is solely a vocal audition. Come prepared with 16-24 measures of a song and bring sheet music if your song is not from the show. The Council for the Arts, founded in 1981, has mounted over 110 productions which have featured over 2,000 adults and children. Today, the PCCFA presents children’s, teen and adult theatre productions each summer and runs educational arts-based programs including an after-school program and an artist-in-residence program for grades K-5 in conjunction with the Port Chester school district. In 2008 the PCCFA founded the annual NATIONAL ARTS in the School Day which recognizes the vital role of the arts in education.
