Nice to learn about two community-theater groups coming together to put on a big, whopping show.
Pleasantville Music Theatre (PMT) and The Armonk Players will hold auditions June 6 an 7 at Whippoorwill Hall in Armonk (next to the North Castle Public Library) for the Westchester community-theater premiere of “The Drowsy Chaperone,” a bubbly Tony-winning valentine to Broadway musicals.
The story is full of wild characters and is set in the apartment of “Man in Chair,” the musical-loving narrator who chases away the blues by listening to his cast albums on records. Yes, records. Remember them?
Anthony Valbiro directs and Kurt Kelley is musical director. (Kurt served in the same role for Nyack High School’s recent production of the same musical.)
About the auditions: June 6 and 7 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Whippoorwill Hall, Armonk. Callbacks June 11 from noon to 6 p.m. Rehearsals begin in late August and performances will be between Oct. 28 and Nov. 13 at Whippoorwill Hall.
