Here’s a great opportunity to kick off 2011.
The Westchester Sandbox Theatre holds auditions Jan. 23 and 24 for Jason Robert Brown’s wonderful, half-backwards, breakup musical, “The Last Five Years,” directed by Benjamin Sterling Cannon.
Auditions will be Sunday, Jan. 23 from 1 to 5 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 24 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Rehearsals begin Saturday, Jan. 29, with performances Feb. 19 and 20.
Here, from the audition notice, are character breakdowns, audition requirements and contact information:
Jamie – Caucasian 20’s – 30’s, Jewish. Very handsome, intelligent writer. Witty and charming, things seem to easily fall into place for Jamie. Though madly in love with his new girlfriend, he chooses to focus his energy on his budding career and enjoys every moment. Excellent actor with a strong pop/rock tenor voice.
Catherine – 20’s – 30’s, African American or Caucasian. Catherine is a struggling actress/singer in NYC. Beautiful and fun loving, she labors through low-paying, out-of-town gigs while trying to keep her failing relationship with her successful boyfriend intact. Excellent actress with a strong pop/rock belt.
Please prepare a 32-bar cut of a contemporary musical-theatre song. Bring sheet music in the correct key as an accompanist will be provided.
