The von Trapps could outsmart the Nazis, but apparently not Consolidated Edison. Tonight’s performance of Woodlands High School’s production of “The Sound of Music” has been canceled because ConEd has a 6-hour emergency electrical repair to do, director John MacLean told me.
The repair will begin right after school, at 3 p.m., but MacLean said the timing was too tight to let the show go on. “We tried to reschedule at other times this weekend but cast members were not available for every option we suggested. Of course, things like musician schedules and rented costumes, backdrops and scripts make it impossible to reschedule after this weekend,” he said.
Tickets for tonight’s show will be honored at tomorrow night’s 7:30 performance at the school, at 475 W. Hartsdale Ave., Hartsdale.
“The Sound of Music” marks MacLean’s final production at Woodlands. He has announced plans to retire after next year and will spend next year grooming his replacement. MacLean added that he hopes to have a huge turnout tomorrow night.
