Nyack’s Elliott Forrest, a Peabody Award-winning broadcaster and WQXR host, can be heard on “Walkin’ Broadway,” an iPod journey through Broadway past and present, mixing a historical walk through the Theater District with anecdotes from James Naughton, the late great Ossie Davis and John Raitt, Stephen Schwartz and Hal Prince.
“Walkin’ Broadway” — created by arts veterans Don Frantz and Elliott Forrest — features stories from the creative talents behind “A Chorus Line,” “Avenue Q,” “Chicago,” “Hair,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Pippin,” “Sweeney Todd” and others.
Stand outside the Imperial Theater and hear Hal Prince talk about his original staging of Fiddler on the Roof. Or James Naughton talking about President Clinton showing up at “Chicago.”
The running time is 55 minutes, but the time it’ll take you depends on how much you choose to linger. When you get the next spot on the map—which you can download along with the tour at www.citylisten.com—you can resume the tour.
“Walkin’ Broadway” can be downloaded and synced to your iPod at www.citylisten.com. The cost is $7.95.
