Auditions: “A Christmas Carol” in Bedford

September
4

I posted this notice way back in June when auditions were announced, but tryouts are next week, so here it is again: BEDFORD COMMUNITY THEATRE ANNOUNCES SEPTEMBER AUDITIONS FOR A CHRISTMAS CAROL (A MUSICAL)

Bedford Community Theatre will present a musical version of Charles Dickens’ beloved classic A Christmas Carol this fall with auditions for all roles in early September. Beautiful melodies by Alan Menken and poignant lyrics by Lynn Ahrens add to the emotional power and pure joy of Dickens’ timeless tale in this version originally presented at Madison Square Garden Theater.

The production includes classic roles for adults, such as Scrooge, Bob Cratchit and the ghosts; several parts for young actors (Tiny Tim, young Scrooge, his sister Fan), and a teen dance corps, as well as a multi-generational ensemble.

Auditions will be held at the Bedford Hills Community House as follows: For all adult and teen roles, auditions will be Tuesday, Sept. 8 from 4 to 9 pm . Auditions for children, age 8 and up will be Thursday, Sept. 10 from 4 p.m. to completion. Adults and teens are also welcome to audition on Thursday after 6 p.m. Performers should come prepared to sing and dressed to move. (Bring sheet music in your key. Accompanist provided.) Participants may request an audition time slot by e-mail to catetesta@hotmail.com.

A Christmas Carol, BCT’s eighth annual musical production, will be directed by Tom Kramer and produced by Diane Bradsell and Laurie Lewis. Performances of A Christmas Carol will be Nov. 20-22 and Dec. 3-6 at the Bedford Hills Community House. Tickets will go on sale in October.

For more information about auditions, including a character breakdown, details about this production and directions to the theater, visit BCT’s website at www.bedfordcommunitytheatre.org.

Bedford Community Theatre operates in cooperation with the Town of Bedford Recreation and Parks Department. A Christmas Carol is presented through special arrangement with Music Theater International.
