Jason Summers, a talented director of all things musical, dropped me a line today, about auditions he’s holding for “Grease,” a production of the cancer-fighting HOPE Players at Kennedy Catholic High School.

Here’s his announcement:

“Dear Potential Hope Players,

“Do you still find yourself longing for those summer nights? Were you born to hand jive? Do you go together like rama lama lama ke ding a de dinga a dong?

“Even if you’re a beauty school dropout, you’re the one that we want!

“The Hope Players is pleased to announce Auditions for its eleventh summer extravaganza, Grease, on Monday, June 22, starting at 3 p.m. at Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers, NY 10589. Callbacks will be the following day, also at 3 p.m. Auditions are open to all high school and college performers.

Show dates are Aug. 7-9.

“Best of all, everything the Hope Players raise from Grease will go toward local breast cancer research and awareness efforts. So why not do a good thing this summer?

“Audition for Grease on June 22 and become hopelessly devoted to Hope!

We are changing up the audition process a little. In an effort to be organized and more time-conscience, we are going to break the auditions into THREE TIME SLOTS for everyone. This will require those who are interested in auditioning to email in a “audition reservation request” to bwayjay@hotmail.com or thehopeplayers@aol.com. The time slots are as follows:

3:00 PM to 4:10PM FILLED
4:15PM to 5:25PM
5:30PM to 7:00PM

Therefore, if you need to get out early or know you will be running late, you have the ability to plan.

So please REPLY TO THIS EMAIL to request a spot by FRIDAY, JUNE 19. Make sure you put a first and second choice. Then check your email June 20 to see what spot you have. If you don’t have a preference, please write back and let us know that. Please forward this email to those who are new to Hope and you know may be auditioning.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN STAGE CREW – do not come to auditions. Please send an email to thehopeplayers@aol.com expressing interest in stage crew, what you would like to be considered for, and experience you’ve had.

For auditions, please bring dancing shoes and prepare 16 bars of music. The music can be either from GREASE or similar shows.
