A busy summer in Port Chester

The Port Chester Council for the Arts announces auditions for its Summer 2009 Theatre Season — Urinetown, The Wiz, High School Musical and Twelfth Night.

Auditions are open to both residents and non-residents of Port Chester. For questions or more information, contact the PCCFA at 914-939-3183.
Young Adult Theatre
“Urinetown:” Open to those entering their junior year of college in September or older.  Auditions will be held on  May 13 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and  Thursday, May 14 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at  Crawford Park Mansion, Ridge Street, Rye Brook. “Urinetown” is directed by Christina Colangelo, with musical direction by Cindy Moore. Performance dates are July 9, 10, 11 at 8 p.m. at Crawford Park Mansion. 
Actors should be prepared to sing 16-24 bars of music in similar style and provide sheet music if selection is not from Urinetown.
Sides will be provided at auditions. There is a $50 participation fee which can be subsidized with program advertising sales. For more information, email cmcolange@aol.com

Teen Theatre
“The Wiz:” For teens entering grade 9 through sophomore year of college in September. Auditions will be held May 18 and 19 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at  Crawford Park Mansion, Ridge St., Rye Brook. The  Wiz is directed by Julie Colangelo with musical direction by Cindy Moore. Performance dates are July 24 and 25 at the Rye Country Day School Performing Arts Center, Rye. Actors should be prepared to sing, dance and read, and provide sheet music if selection is not from  The Wiz. There is a participation fee of $85 for Port Chester residents and $125 for non-Port Chester residents. Scholarships are available upon request.

Children’s Theatre
“High School Musical — The One Act:” For children entering grades 2 through 8 in September.  Auditions will be held June 15 and  16 from  3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at  Crawford Park Mansion, Ridge St., Rye Brook. High School Musical is directed by Kelly Budde with musical direction by Cindy Moore. Performance dates are July 31 and Aug. 1 at Rye Country Day School Performing Arts Center, Rye. Actors should be prepared to sing, dance and read. There is a participation fee of $85 for Port Chester-residents and $125 for non-residents. Scholarships are available upon request.

Lawn Chair Theatre
“Twelfth Night:” For young adults entering grade 9 in September and older.  Auditions will be held June 10 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and June 12 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Girl Scout House, Lyon Park, Port Chester. Twelfth Night is directed by Tal Aviezer. Performance dates are August 13, 14, 15 in Lyon Park. Actors should come prepared to read selections from the script, which will be provided by the director. Actors will find it helpful to read the play before auditioning. For an advance look at the audition selections, please visit portchestershakespeare.org. There is a participation fee for students of $85 for Port Chester residents and $125 for non-residents. The adult participation fee is $50.
