Support performing arts in New Rochelle

March
25

Got this note from a friend of a friend of Chris Arena, from Arena, who’s trying to get a performance space in New Rochelle:

“To all my Westchester theatre friends and colleagues. Sorry for the group e-mail but I’m a little pressed for time here.

As many of you know, I’m attempting to create a performance art center in New Rochelle. I’ve been working toward this for several years now and will be making a formal proposal to City Council in early to mid April.

That said, I need your help.

On Tuesday, March 31, I’m presenting a one-act play I wrote on women’s rights. It will be performed in City Council Chambers and most, if not all, of the City of New Rochelle’s politicians will be there. I need to show them that there would be a substantial turn out for events of this kind. This is important, particularly this close to the presentation of my proposal.

In short, I need fannies in seats and not just any fannies, responsive fannies!

I really hope you can help me out on this one and come see the show. It would mean so much to me and the movement to create a performance space in New Rochelle.

There will be a small reception at 5:30 with the “curtain” going up at 6:30.
Admission is free.

“Come for the cheese, stay for the show.” :-)

If it involves theater in any way -- from grade-schoolers learning Shakespeare to high school musicals to Broadway veterans getting into character -- this is the place to talk about it. We'll have audition notices, casting notices, mini-reviews and plenty of ideas to fill a theater junkie's to-do list.
