Show-tune Sing-Along

If all of these musicals have you yearning to do a little singing of your own, perhaps you’ll be interested in the not I received from the Westchester Choral Society:

The Westchester Choral Society will present an afternoon sing-along of show tunes and standards on Sunday, March 29, at 3 p.m. at the Music Conservatory of Westchester, 216 Central Ave., White Plains.

Returning by popular demand, singer/cabaret performer Jim Fredericks will lead the audience in singing popular show tunes and standards in an informal setting. All singers and listeners are welcome!  No previous singing experience is necessary, and song sheets will be provided.

Admission is $10, and includes refreshments. The Music Conservatory of Westchester, where the Westchester Choral Society is chorus in residence, is located near the Westchester County Center, next to City Limits Diner.  There is free parking in the Conservatory lot, as well as nearby metered street and municipal parking.

Jim Fredericks is a singer, actor, director, cabaret performer and voice teacher with an extensive background in both classical and popular music.  He has appeared in over 60 musical theatre productions with stars such as Hugh Jackman, Audra MacDonald, Giorgio Tozzi, Jane Powell, JoAnn Worley, Mimi Hines, and Claire Bloom. He has taught at the Berkshire (MA) Choral Festival and is on the music faculty of The Horace Mann School in Riverdale and The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry.

The award-winning Westchester Choral Society, founded in 1942, will present its next concert, a joint performance with the Fairfield County Chorale of Mozart’s “Mass in C  Minor” and Mendelssohn’s “Psalm 42” conducted by Frank Nemhauser and Johannes Somary, on Saturday, May 2, at 8 p.m. in Norwalk, Conn.  For ticket and audition information contact Westchester Choral Society Administrator Katie Goulart at 914-761-3900 ext. 103, email info@westchesterchoralsociety.org or go to www.westchesterchoralsociety.org.
