Broadway casting director Mary Sugarman introduced the nominees for leading actress award, each of whom came out and rocked the place. From “Crazy for You” to “Man of La Mancha” to “West Side Story” to “Once Upon a Mattress” to “Iolanthe,” stunningly talented.
The girl who sang from “Once Upon a Mattress,” “Happily Ever After” had a bit of a score malfunction when musical director Jordan Rudess couldn’t make head or tail of her sheet music, but she went on, after a brief consultation, and nailed it.
Amanda Rossi, of Tappan Zee, sang a lovely “Thou The Singer” from Iolanthe and then all six nominees came out for a group bow.
I’m glad I wasn’t a judge.
